The market leader in multi-foil insulation solutions, Thinsulex TLX silver can be used in roofs and walls. At only 30mm thick it offers the perfect solution for achieving building regulations when space is at a premium.

Multi-Foil Insulation Construction for Multi-Purpose uses

TLX Silver has a multi-layer construction. Made with a core comprising of five layers of polyester fibre wadding separated by four metallised film layers it then has outer layers coated in a metallised film laminated to a non-woven polypropylene fabric which is welded along both long edges to enclose the core.

Thermal insulation is provided in the form of a radiant barrier. The reflective surfaces on the outside and inner layers of TLX Silver are very effective at both reflecting infra-red radiation back into the house, and also in preventing the house from radiating energy out into the environment. Similarly in summer, TLX Silver prevents overheating by limiting the amount of solar radiation that gets into the house.

Whatever your requirement; be it new build, timber frame building, loft or barn conversions then TLX can provide a solution to meet current regulations without the need for encroaching on much needed room space and head height.

High Performance Thermal Insulation

TLX Silver is the first product of this type to receive a BBA accreditation and is also an NHBC approved product. It can also be used in timber frame construction to assist in meeting sustainability codes without increasing timber stud depth.

To achieve the required ‘U’ value of 0.18 W/m2.K for roofs, it is used in conjunction with either PIR or wool insulation depending on the type of application. Further details can be found in the PDF link below.

Vapour Control, Airtightness and Thermal bridging all-in-one

When installed on the inside of a roof or wall structure a vapour control layer is then in place. This prevents water vapour from the house penetrating in to areas where it may find a cold surface to form condensation on.

When correctly fitted in roofs, walls and around windows and doors, TLX Silver also makes the whole building envelope more airtight which then reduces cold draughts and prevents the escape of warm air from a property. This can also be beneficial if air tests are to be carried out.

As TLX Silver is fitted across timber members it also eliminates cold bridging as a continuous insulation is in place.
