IG L5/50 Cavity Wall Lintel - Extra Heavy Duty  Loading. Used for smaller cavity widths in walls up to 275mm wide.

L5 lintels have a 'C' section shape inner leaf profile and are made from high quality galvanised steel. They benefit from a fully insulated centre section which satisfies the thermal bridging requirements for all UK Building Control offices.

Extra Heavy Duty IG Lintels also benefit from having a non-continuous thermal break plate. Basically, the inner leaf is warmer as it has no contact with the cold outside leaf.

Lintel installation & suitable applications

These lintels will suit:

Inner Leaf: 100 - 115mm

Cavity: 50 - 65mm

Outer Leaf: 100 - 105mm

Blockwork built tight against inner face of the lintel as shown in the cross section drawing. Ensure all perpendicular and horizontal joints are filled with mortar. Place mortar bed on top of blockwork before floor units are laid to provide even distribution of load. Lintels may be propped to facilitate speed of construction.

Also take care to make sure that the lintel selected has a minimum of 150mm bearing at either side of the opening for lintel lengths up to 4000mm; anything above this should have a minimum 200mm bearing.
