They are manufactured using an automatic, long-line casting technique that places high strength, low water/cement ratio concrete under high vibration and compaction forces around high tensile pre-stressed wires.
A series of voids run the length of each unit reducing the unit weight and therefore enabling greater spans for the construction depth to be achieved.
Hollowcore floors hold a robust detail relating to Approved Document Part E ‘Resistance to the Passage of Sound’ and can therefore be used without the need to carry out pre-completion site tests.
